Ladies
The Ladies Section is managed by its own committee which is chaired by the Lady Captain.
We meet on a Wednesday, when the majority of their competitions are held, tee times are reserved from 8.30am – 10.30am. The alternative competition day is the previous Sunday to help accommodate working players.
Usually at least 20 ladies play each week and new members are always made welcome.
There is plenty of golf arranged for the competitive and the not so competitive golfer. This includes many fun competitions, especially during the winter.
If the weather determines that no golf is played on a Wednesday the ladies still meet at the clubhouse for lunch.
During the summer there are monthly medals, regular qualifying stableford competitions and a number of club summer cup competitions.
As a lady member you are not restricted to playing only on a Wednesday or Sunday – the course is available to all members 7 days a week.
For those who enjoy playing mixed golf, there are many competitions held throughout the year including a ‘Friendly ’ competition which is held every two weeks on a Sunday.
The Lady Captain’s away trip is always popular. This comprises two or three nights away with two rounds of golf at a course and hotel, usually in South Wales. Recently golfing trips have been arranged to Spain which have been extremely well supported and enjoyed by all and this is hoped to be an annual event.
Our Lady Captain has her own day when she invites all the lady members and guests to play and this is followed by a presentation evening with a meal and much merriment!
We also arrange to play at other clubs’ open days and the West Wales Ladies Golf Association competitions.
South Pembrokeshire Ladies compete in the Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire League and last year were promoted to League Division One. Everyone usually has an opportunity to take part as there are home and away fixtures.
Each year the Lady Captain chooses a charity to support and money is raised throughout the year through competitions on a Wednesday and at the Lady Captain’s Charity Day in the autumn.
We also hold a number of coffee mornings to raise money for the section.
South Pembrokeshire Ladies enjoy their golf and socialising and look forward to welcoming new ladies to the section.
